Orthopedic Massage (Back to Top)
Orthopedic Massage is a broad multi-disciplinary approach to reducing or eliminating pain and dysfunction and to restore structural alignment and balance throughout your body. A typical session may include: functional assessment to check your range of motion; myofascial spreading and release of tight muscular tissues; neuromuscular therapy and re-education; scar tissue mobilization techniques; stretching and strength training; and much more.
Deep Tissue Massage (Back to Top)
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. I use various techniques with my hands, knuckles, and elbows and apply focused pressure on tension held in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t experience discomfort. Keep in mind that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that is released from the deep tissue during the session.
Sports Massage (Back to Top)
Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body’s natural immune function.
Many of my clients include tri-athletes, tennis players, yoga and pilates practitioners. I also work with the Emory University swim team and at many bicycling events.
Energy Work (Back to Top)
Reiki, Qi Gong and Quantum Touch are inter-related forms of energy healing that cleanses and balances the energy patterns in the body. As a result, the body’s natural self-healing mechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum mental, emotional, and physical health. During a session, I work in energetic connection with you in order to remove blockages, detoxify your energy system, and restore your vital life force energy. These techniques utilize different forms of breathing techniques and a gentle laying on of hands to conduct the necessary energy force between us. The benefits of Energy Work range from the release of habitual mental/emotional stress to alleviating chronic pain. You may experience anything from lightening of stress, to lessened/elimination of pain, to expansive feeling all the way to the molecular level, to a profoundly deep experience of stillness and at-one-ment.
Swedish Massage (Back to Top)
Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
